  • SoFi Stadium Soccer Match

    Here's a report from Coach Myers about our Bobcats at a soccer match at one of LA's top sports venues:

    "This past Sunday, the boys JH soccer team had the opportunity to play soccer at Sofi Stadium! Kadima, another school in the San Fernando Valley Private School League sent a late invite to our Bobcats offering to host an 11 v 11 game on the field. This was the first time Berkeley Hall has participated in a game like this and a great chance for the boys to get a scrimmage against the team they will be playing in the first round of the playoffs later in February. The students and families had the opportunity to go onto the field and explore the stadium as there were basketball and volleyball courts set up on the other half of the field. Berkeley Hall started the game strong with multiple chances created with passes over the top, but were unable to convert any into goals. Kadima then finished the half with a goal after the first shot was initially saved and went on to finish the game at 1-0. This was the first scrimmage for the Bobcats in SoFi and hopefully not the last! Thanks to all the families and students who attended the game."

  • Youngest Alumni Return to BHS

    Last Friday, the graduates from the Class of 2023 returned to campus for a reunion. The 9th graders enjoyed a pizza dinner and game of trivia with their classmates in the Library. They also got to spend time with their former teachers and administrators and had the opportunity to tell us about their first few months of high school. For many, this was the first time they saw each other since graduation and they all appeared thrilled to be there. Their parents attended a separate reception at the Innovation Lab with administrators and members of staff and also had a great time catching up over appetizers and desserts.
     
    One of the highlights of the evening was the trivia game curated by Mr. Shoemake that included questions about the graduates’ favorite aspects of Berkeley Hall, fun facts about their teachers, and a round of real time voting for their fellow classmates. Who do you think will get the Nobel Prize in the Class of 2023? And who is most likely to come back and teach at BHS? We’ll let you guess!

  • BHS Gets an A+

    We are excited to share that Berkeley Hall received an A+ rating from Niche, a website that evaluates schools based on a variety of factors, including academics, diversity, and teachers. Only 2% of schools on Niche receive an A+ rating, making this a significant achievement for BHS! This rating is a testament to the high-quality education that Berkeley Hall provides its students. Kudos to our engaged and caring teachers, administrators, and staff for going above and beyond.

  • Curriculum Nights

    At the heart of a Bobcat's learning experience is the partnership between our families and the school. Curriculum nights was a perfect way to focus on that connection and we thank all those who joined us. Parents talked with their teachers, staff, and fellow parents and heard about the planning and thinking behind what happens in the classroom. We look forward to a successful year and many more opportunities to engage and come together.

  • Everyone's an Artist at BHS

    If you go by the art room this year, you will be greeted by posters with lines like: Everyone’s an Artist, Make Art with your Heart, Use your Giant Imagination, and Happy Accidents. Students colored these posters that express the vision for art this year with guidance from our new teacher Ms. Green.

    This vision was easy to see when the third grade were in class this week working on their self-portraits. Our creative students were shown the work of American artist Maira Kalman for inspiration. They then set out to compose their own self-portraits - a process that got them thinking in new ways.  Some students said at first they felt awkward and embarrassed to look at themselves in the mirror to draw themselves. But they quickly got into it.
     
    “I was excited by the number of details,”  Konstantin M. told us. 
     
    Olivia M. noted, “I was very inspired by Maira Kalman and I went home and searched her up and learned about her brush strokes.”
     
    Sofia C. added, “Even though art sometimes doesn’t look realistic, it can still look beautiful when you make art with your heart.”

    We look forward to a year full of inspiration and creativity for all our artistic Bobcats.
